چکیده

Models with structured additive predictor provide a very broad and rich framework for complex regression modeling. They can deal simultaneously with nonlinear covariate effects and time trends, unitor cluster specific heterogeneity, spatial heterogeneity and complex interactions between covariates of different type. In this paper, we discuss a hierarchical version of regression models with structured additive predictor and its applications to insurance data. That is, the regression coefficients of a particular nonlinear term may obey another regression model with structured additive predictor. The proposed model may be regarded as an extended version of a multilevel model with nonlinear covariate terms in every level of the hierarchy. We describe several highly efficient MCMC sampling schemes that allow to estimate complex models with several hierarchy levels and a large number of observations typically within a couple of minutes. We demonstrate the usefulness of the approach with applications to insurance data.

Multilevel structured additive regression

Models with structured additive predictor provide a very broad and rich framework for complex regression modeling. They can deal simultaneously with nonlinear covariate effects and time trends, unitor cluster-specific heterogeneity, spatial heterogeneity and complex interactions between covariates of different type. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical or multilevel version of regression mo...

University of Innsbruck Working Papers in Economics and Statistics Simultaneous probability statements for Bayesian P - splines Andreas

P-splines are a popular approach for fitting nonlinear effects of continuous covariates in semiparametric regression models. Recently, a Bayesian version for P-splines has been developed on the basis of Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation techniques for inference. In this work we adopt and generalize the concept of Bayesian contour probabilities to additive models with Gaussian or multicategori...

Factors Influencing Pharmaceutical Demand in Iran: Results from a Regression Study

Background and Objectives: Pharmaceutical expenditures are responsible for a major part of health systems’ cost. According to the WHO’s statistics, Iran is the first among the 20 countries in the world in terms of drug consumption. The first step in controlling consumption of a particular good is to identify factor inducing the relevant demands. Hence, this study aimed to identify the pattern a...

کاربردی از مدل های رگرسیون لجستیک ترتیبی دوسطحی در تعیین عوامل موثر بر بار اقتصادی بیماری دیابت نوع دو در ایران

In recent years, multilevel regression models were intensely developed in many fields like medicine, psychology economic and the others. Such models are applicable for hierarchical data that micro levels are nested in macros. For modeling these data, when response is not normality distributed, we use generalized multilevel regression models. In this paper, at first, multilevel ordinal logist...
